I might be able to clear something up about
KAC and customer service. I talked to them a while back. They are structured a little different than Armalite, that is true.
KAC wants you to work with a dealer first and foremost. In other words, if you are shopping around, kicking the tires, licking the frosting so to speak, they want you to do that at a tier 1 level. They are very busy with their new contracts, and because of those contracts, they get every swingin' Dick Trickle calling them and tieing up their personnel. I can understand that. Try and deal with the Remington Custom Shop. It's similar. Now, the
KAC dealers will answer the vast majority of the questions one might have during the purchase phase. Once you have plopped your hard earned $$$ on a
KAC and you have a serial number, trust me, they will talk to you. The price tag on the
KAC will dissuade the posers from those who have a goal to accomplish.
KAC was chosen by the Pentagon over the competition for many reasons. When that happens, they can dictate the price. An example of that would be the
HK Mk 23 Mod 0
SOCOM pistol of yesteryear. In essence, it wasn't so much different than a
HK 45 Match, but because it was a 'system' and it was chosen by Navy
SOCOM, it went for a pretty penny. This in turn dragged the price of the Match up, as well as the
HK 45 and
USP models. Yes, there is some bragging right price inflation in there, but there well should be. I'd hate to hear the elite guys are using the same bang producers that every guy on the local firing line are using. The illusion of eliteness, whether it proven or fantasy, is an aura that will command high margin to those manufacturers that get the label. Take Colt and Armalite as examples. Both rocked the
AR world for many years relying on their military contracts to light that aura. Are they better than the others? Well, some is proven, some is fantasy, a lot is based on the testimony of those that shelled the dough and will defend that choice like a pit bull with a bone. I like that. That means you have loyal customers with heritage, lineage, and tangible evidence to back up what is completely wrapped in fantasy. So,
KAC may have crappy 'sales response' (careful not to call it customer service since you aren't a customer until you've proven you'll melt a credit card for them), but the person looking for the ultimate stick in category at this given time is willing to blast through that hurdle unscathed and reap the rewards of the promise land with 1,000 virgins feeding him grapes while he holds the scepter of RA (yes, the SR25EM).

Anyway, Mac and I have the same haircut. He's my brother from another mother. The twins with fins (inside joke). So, I gotta have one me thinks.
