uuuggghhh !!!!!........I think I just threw up in my mouth a little !!!!
Was there a specific cause ??? Did he use the wrong powder or loading ???
After just getting into BP Pistol this past year I've learned Black Powders can be a tad unpredictable......The real deal smoky black stuff has more explosive uncontrolled burn or energy than say modern smokeless powder with a controlled burn rate.....BP has to be measured by 'VOLUME' and the projectile seated firmly against the charge with no air space, Very sensitive to humidity(Like a sponge) and even a static charge can set it off.
According to the directions the rifle was designed for Smokeless loads or BP equivalents like Pyrodex or Triple seven - Guessing he got creative and something went horribly wrong.
Smokeless Loads = By Weight........................BP Loads = By Volume
For hunting applications better to use the Pellets with proper Cap and Projectile = Less guess work.
