I can't afford a maching gun, or to buy a suppressor, but I have the paperwork signed, and ready to go to BATF so I can design and build my own suppressor. I just need the $200 tax stamp check for BATF. I was thinking of using chrome moly steel for the innards, and maybe the outer shell. I know this will make the system very light in weight. Comments and suggestions are welcome. It may take a while for that stamp, and as most of you know, all paperwork and stamps must be oked by BATF before construction can begin.

I actually own this book... for educational purposes only of course. But, it gives lots of great info and has some great step by step instructions... if properly motivated, I might scan some pages for you... Shoot me a PM.

my dad built one at work that he did step by step from a book a guy let him barrow worked good then he threw it away.....said he just wanted to see if it would work and he didnt wanna get cought with it in his house but it looked god awful it surelty wasnt fancy

That's good that he threw it out, because your dad would have lost his freedom, his rights, and his house over having it, and he probably would've caused his boss and others at work a lot of grief over it as well. The federal penitentiaries are full enough.

Question: you said it looked God-awful............ but did he try it out, and if so, did it function as indicated that it would from the book?

ya it muffled probaly a lil more then half the noise it was a .223 bolt action rifle but iam not sure of the book that he used it wasnt even his book ill ask him if he remembers

It is a great country that we live in. Many take our liberties for granted. I am a former National Guardsman, joined before graduating high school, near the end of Viet Nam. I have never seen combat. It brings tears to my eyes to watch the military channel and see the horror I missed. I am proud, not arrogant, to be an American and exercise what freedoms we have including the right to carry arms, concealed and otherwise. Preserving this right insures that I'm a good old boy who obeys the law. I am fortunate to live in a state that allows such devices. None of the other New England states allow the possession or construction of a suppressor.
I have the complete specs and drawings for the Scionic Suppressor. Designed for the AR, it is a complex collection of large acme screw parts inside the shell capturing the expanding gasses, allowing them to colide with eachother. There is also a pressure valve at the rear end to adjust the release of these noise makers. I don't believe it will slow down the round as it travels downrange breaking the sound barrier. No consequence to the sniper. I know I can design and build a much simpler one, lighter, easy to clean, and effective is suppressing the sound of gunfire.
The gentleman whose Dad built one may have not applied to BATF, paid the $200.00 tax stamp and registering the device. Not doing so subjects the maker to a number of felonies and jail. It was a simple task to call BATF, a helpful, non judgemental man answered all questions I had and I had the appropiate paperwork is just a few days. I'm broke, struggling with lack of work like many. The two hundred bucks will hurt but it will get done. I have a good relationship with the local police and it was a simple matter for the chief to ok this project. This is a difficult task in many states, even if possession of MGs is permissible. I live in a very small town, few cops, all know me, and who knows why, but the chief likes me, was excited about the project. I was extensively printed, scrutinized, and all went through without a hitch. I look forward to just getting the innard stock a large piece or round stock to machine that will simly screw on where the flash suppressor attaches. Just need the 200 smackers to get things roling. In the manual that I have it shows using an AR flash suppressor on the inside of the can, welded in place. It looked like a great idea.

Oh, John, I'm retired Army with a total of 21 years on the books. I just happen to live in a state that if you even say the word "suppressor" you could go to jail. But, the book gave lots of insight and I would be happy to scan some pages for you still.

That would be awful nice of you. Scanning an entire book is not necessary, but blue prints, machinist's drawings, diagrams, even pictures would certainly be helpful. I'd also like a scan of the cover, maybe the table of contents, Also, it would be easier to make them and probably a little faster if you could just make an attachment to my email address, and post it here too if you would like. rotorhed@hotmail.com I almost had a MG license in Mass, very difficult there because the police don't want anyone to have weapons. I had a conceald permit, my wife (at the time) and I were attacked by some drunken bums where I was positioned to let them know I was armed, never discharge a round or pointed it at anyone, and I reported it to the police, and did I get fu--ed. Got my permit suspended, I sued the PD, they dragged their heals till it expired. I had to give one cop a load of wood chips (I own a small tree service) and another copa load of firewood, reapply and I got it back. Who is screwing who? If yu don't already have it, the army field manual "Improvised Munitions" is a great little handbook to have around, if the sh t ever hits the fan. Such a terrible your legislatures have towards firearms. To be honest, I don't know what states do allow suppressors, I think Florida does as there is a copany there called Jonathan Aurthur Cieneir that sell some good stuff, convert your own weapon with an intergral supressor, a nice .22 conversion for the AR. I have the colt conversion and is only a 10 round mag, his is a 20 round, and with standard velocity ammor, it's enough bump to cycle the action, but there is literally no noise, and totally legal.
