Basicly Which one is NOT a POS and NOT OVERPRICED

I have finally decided to get an AK. I am having trouble nailing down the ONE I want. I am seeing them in .223 and other calibers. I need advise as to Who, What, Where, How... All info is appreciated. Dont ge me wrong I know it will have to paid forfor BUTIve seen them for a grand. NO WAY. It is to a SHTF gun

What about the 223's. I heard good things about VEPR aks. and any one in WASR 3s, & 10s. I guess i should add if it ain't goodie friendly (acc's) Im not interested. I want to use/have this as a Zombie SHF Home defense gun. I am going to want to "TAC" this out. Rails,Sights,Lights, maybe even a laser. I can't help myself. Im used to "TACING OUT" everthing else. It wouldn't be fair to my future AK lol.

personaly i would get yugoslavian

they are built better and heavier than the more common romanians

i would also suggest the underfolder, very cool. but if you are goin to be doin alot of shooting get the fixed stock because the folding stock is not a very good shooting platform, its pretty solid but not very comfortable

There are a lot of good ones, but the bulgarian ones are pretty good too. I agree with what too tall says. I would not get .223, but you may have a reason to do that. The 7.62 x 39 is a very potent rd. comparatively speaking. If you have never shot one and have not shot the .223, then try both if possible. I have some .223 guns, not Aks, but like the Ak because of the rd. Plus the 7.62 at this time is less expensive and the quantity or availability is greater, that may change in the future, who knows.

If you can get a arsenal 106 (stamped), that is probably the top of the .223 lineup. Well, the milled are the top but they are out of production and they run well over a grand - you might be able to find a 106 stamped somewhere for $600 at the cheapest.

I'm just breezing through here and thought I might add that I love my MAC90. Not bad for a Chinese rifle. It always shoots and it loves cheap ammo. Heck, the cheaper the better.

Went to the gunshow yesterday and saw an arsenal SA-93 just like mine. It looked brand new and they had it laying next to the box which looked brand new also. The price was $800. It was the best deal at the show. I was one of the first 50 into the show and went in the other direction from that gun and it was in the last aisle I went down and it was still there 2.5 hrs after the show opened. I can't even imagine that. Maybe a lot of people did not realize what it was....a Bulgarian MAK-90 or AK? I would have bought it except I saw something else I was going to make up my mind about and eventually did buy and am now shamelessly broke. Mine shoots flawlessly, but then so does the Chinese one I have.

Saiga !!!!! Converting a Sagia back to a proper assault rifle is half the fun. I have 2 Saigas, a 7.62 and a 223 and I love them.

Old Thread but I'll bite.......

If you cruise the Pawn/Gun Shops as I do Keep your eyes open for Norinco/PolyTech or Maadi, and be prepared to pay about $800-900 for an Original Pre-Ban Rifle - I wouldn't waste my time on a Post-Ban one or converting it to Pre-Ban....It's still marked "MAK90" or "Sporter" or Whatever, and I like 'Em in the 'OL 7.62x39 as designed.

Now today at the time of this posting most are being made on imported parts kit with American made Receivers and Barrels to be compliant - And most of those being made by Century Arms which to me stands for "Shit" quality wise......You want a Factory built Rifle - Not a POS put together in somebody's basement.

Today the only one I see I'd buy is a Russian made Arsenal Saiga SGL31 Series in 5.45x39mm, So as to take full advantage of the abundant Surplus Ammo in that cartridge.

Good post max. Your right on the Century=shit.I have one,came complete with crooked sight block and crooked gas block. Me personally I want a Bulgarian folder.

pmkringiv,if you plan on buying a Ak please for your sake take your time and do your research.Know what you are buying and learn what to look for.If you don't ,you will most likely get burned.Ak's aren't like buying an AR.
