As AK's go Maadi was one of the better made guns.....
If it's just a screwed on sleeve and "Tack Welded" at the bottom between the sleeve and barrel then you can very carefully cut the weld using a Dremel tool and cut off wheel - Be careful not to cut into the barrel and stay on the sleeve side till you can start to turn the sleeve with pliers, You won't have to go too deep to cut past the weld and be careful as there should be threads under there - After you get the darn thing off and can see the barrels profile you can carefully grind the rest of the weld away using the grinding attachments(I like the skinny Pink one for sharpening Chainsaws), Finish up with the polishing wheel to get it smooth and touch up area with a bluing pen.....Patience and taking your time is key to making it look like it was almost never there.
When it comes time to install your choice of muzzle break it may or may not have the detent pin that indexes the muzzle break - If it's there then great, If not you can try installing one, Or if the hole has been pinned then just use lock-tite to hold it in place.
