Very cool. It'd be nice to have one platform that will handle multiple calibers and possibly different contours. The only thing I'd question would be accuracy of such a system? I wonder what kind of MOA they guarantee out of the box?

I don't know but a great friend of mine buys all Sako rifles from the gun shop he works at and get .5'' groups @100 right out of the box. I don't know if it it is guaranteed though.

Also, he got me into hand loading and that has a HUGE advantage over factory loads.

I've heard nothing but good stuff about SAKO. As with anything, there seems to be trade offs. I'm assuming the accuracy of a setup like this may suffer somewhat, but to an acceptable degree. The benefits probably outweigh the drawbacks for 90% of shooters that would purchase this setup.

I just read further on the Quad. I didn't realize it was only rimfire. The four calibers are .17 Mach 2, .17 HMR, .22 LR, and .22 HMR.

I was thinking they might be doing this with SA or LA hunting calibers. That would have been much cooler, but I still love the concept.

mempilot, I agree it is a cool concept but yes if it works out I bet it will to SA and LA in the future. Lets just wait and see.

Hey guys sorry to dig up an old thread but the SA & LA stuff is already covered by Blaser the R-93 is interchangeable. Also the Sig SHR-970 is interchangeable just make make sure the bolt & magazine go with the caliber selected change barrels and shoot. The SHR-970 was only imported for about 4 or 5 years. So parts are hard to get the base gun can be purchased for around $500 barrels go for around $300. I have never seen a complete bolt for sale in the last couple of years since I acquired my SHR. But I can tell you in 30-06 it will hold .75 moa with no problem.

I wonder if its capable of being fired without the allen/screw being locked? I'm curious to know what would happen if someone tried to fire it without the barrel locked in. Designers probably factored that in, but... you never know.

Roomy... I think the concept of caliber change was proven with the TC Contender/Encore system... (I love my Encore) I realize it's not bolt action, but it is almost as fast loading with a little practice and accuracy with the factory barrels is fantastic (of the one's I've owned/shot). I get between .75 -.50 MOA out of my .243 barrels, depending on load and .50 MOA out of my .223. You can also convert it to a handgun or a muzzle loader. I have the .454 Casull handgun barrel and I routinely shoot it out to 200 yards and keep it on an 8 inch steel plate, from the bench.
