My CCW is the same as my range weapon.
It is a High-Standard model M1911A1 Camp Perry. I understand it is bulky, heavy, perhaps a little slow on the draw, but it is a well balanced, high performance, hit-em once sidearm. My ammunition load of choice is a JHP, either Hornady or Federal.Sometimes I alternate Hydra-Shok with FMJ loads in the same magazine. At times, when I'm in a particularly bad mood, all three. Suggestion for a new range exercise: for those of you who haven't tried this yet, load the mags with these alternated rounds. Go to the range, keep in mind what you have in the magazinethen take note of your effect on the target downrange. Also remember, with a 6-round magazine, you only have three shots of each. It does keep you on your toes, not to mention, it's a load of fun to see the results. I have a bad habit of keeping them guessing. There is no greater pleasure than knowing the BG's know when you're coming and are not afraid. Also, locally speaking, everyone knows what I take with me into the public. Those with something larger have nothing to fear, those who carry smaller know better. To quote the phrase, "He whom has the largest toys, wins the game." For the experienced shooters, this is probably old hat. 9 millimeter users need not apply.
Just a slight bit of sadism,
