My wife and I were at a gun show in Tennessee today when she suprised me with a suggestion. She wanted to know if the next gun I got could be "her gun". Well the next pistol I was looking to get was going to be a .22 since ammo is cheap and abundant. We went around looking for .22's, I've been looking at the P22 for a while now and recently the Mosquito has caught my eye. I was wondering what some of your thoughts were on these pistols. I've never owned or shot either of them so I don't know anymore about them than what I read. Mind you my wife is 5'2 and she has trouble racking my XD so I'm looking for something she can operate without any problem.

I bought my wife an P22, it's a great little gun; they are notoriously picky with ammo though. CCI MiniMag is about the only thingmine doesn't ever have a problemwith. it requires high velocity ammo. Though the more it's broken in, the less picky it seems....The Sig is definitely built better; it's bigger and heavier. The P22 doesn't have a decocker lever like the Sig, which would be nice. If she's not using it for CC, I'd probably go for the Sig; if she wants smaller, go P22. They're both very good.

My gf's son-in-law just got a P22 and he wants to get rid of it as fast as he can and get a different .22. He's had nothing but problems with it out of the box. He might have gotten a "bum" one and Walther has said they'll replace it but he's dead set on getting a Ruger. I was suprised cause I've heard nothing but good things about the Walther brand.

My P-22 functions fine but I only use HV ammo which is recommended. Newer series pistols seem to work best. You want a G series or higher, I have seen K series out recently. There is a "bible" you can download which goes in great detail things you can do to improve the functioning if you wish. Who ever has one of these should download this for future reference.

p.s. on the side of the magazine you'll se a letter A or B. B series mags are the improved ones.

Hey, thanks everyone. I've been looking online and we went out again today and looked at them. She's not going to using it for CC, she just wants something to call hers. I do like the Sig for the fact that it fits my hands better. I'm 6'3 and i have problems with some pistols feeling comfortable. There is a gun shop in KY that i go by on my way home from work that has a suppressor for the Sig for 300, seems like it would be fun to have in addition to the mosquito. Then again thats me thinking its my next toy, this one's hers and I'm pretty sure my next toy is going to be a Stoeger Stainless Steel Side-by-Side 12 Gauge. Yea that Stoeger Coach is the kind of gun I would picture a dad sitting in the den polishing when his daughter brings home her boyfriend for the first time. So thats what i plan on doing to my daughter. Except for a den I'm hoping i can have my own workshop/gun room, just gotta get the wife to let me steal a room. Anyhow ill keep ya'll posted on the mosquito with the suppressor and when i finally get the stoeger ill let u know how much fun that is.

If she wants a mall carry piece, tell her to check out the Bersa Thunder 380. I have one with a Fobus paddle holster. They are reliable, and mild to shoot compared to LCP and P3AT. Stoeger makes nice, affordable shotguns. I have a model 2000 autoloader and it's sweet to shoot and lightweight with nice balance.

Someone mentioned this, but I'll second the motion. I bought my wife a Ruger MkIII, .22LR. It's not the fancy target version with bull barrel, it's blued. She doesn't carry it, but she keeps it in her SUV. All I can say about her shooting it is, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end. It's very accurate right out of the box and will eat anything we've fed it so far. I saw one in Bass Pro on Saturday for $299.99. I paid $329.00 for hers. It comes with 2 - 10rd magazines.

I had the same problem at my house Gunrunner. I just kept putting dead things on the wall till she got tired of it. What do you know, I now have my own gun room.

If I ever get my new barn built, it'll have a room that I'll do my rifle painting, reloading (I'm looking at getting into it) and gun cleaning.

My room in the house, appropriately named "man-ville", doubles as a home gym and my better half haunts the place often. You can see her "touch" on the place :-(

Unfortun​ately at this time, I don't have a lot of trophy bucks worthy of wallhanger status. That'll change soon though.
