I have been wanting something smaller and lighter than my Astra m75 or M&P to carry. Almost decided on a Khar or Kel-Tec in .32 or .380, but ammo availabilty ( almost none around here) and power levels had me waitng . At year end a local dealer had a cost sale and I picked up a Taurus 709 slim in 9mm. Quick trip to the range was overall good experience. Functioning with two types of ball ammo and Mag-Tech jhp's was 100%. Recoil was brisk as they say (lot of movement) but felt recoil was much lighter than I expected. Accuracy at 10 yards was good, keeping shots on a 5" target with double taps. Wanted to try some of the new Hornady critical defense ammo , but at $23.00 for 20 rounds, I backed off. May just stay with the Mag-Tech 115's of my old standby of WW silvertips. Tried on an ankle holster and didn't like it, so I will use my ISWB for now.
