DEVELOPI​NG: A mass shooting at Ft. Hood military base in Texas has left at least 7 dead and 12 wounded, officials told Fox News.

There were two shooters in the Army base massacre in Killeen, the New York Post reported. One suspect was in custody and the other was on the loose, Fox confirmed.

The attack apparently happened at the base's Soldier Readiness Center. Army officials didn't know whether the victims were civilians or military personnel.

The men were reportedly dressed in Army fatigues, but military​ couldn't confirm that they were Army personnel.

The base and area schools were on lockdown after the mass shooting, and all those on the Army base were asked to gather for a head count.

"A law enforcement official identified the shooting suspect as Army Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan. The official said Hasan, believed to be in his late 30s, was killed after opening fire at the base. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the case publicly.

The official says investigators are trying to determine if Hasan was his birth name, or if he changed his name and converted to Islam at some point in his life" they will stop letting them in our miliraty eventually and hopefully our country. my heart really goes out to all the victims and thier families.

If what I've heard is correct, he's Indian (India) by birth. He was born in the States and was disgruntled after being painted as an Islamic Middle Easterner. He'd been fighting deployment to A-stan for years and reportedly got into many verbal and a few physical altercations with his contemporaries concerning US involvement in the Iraq/Afghan GWOT. His reviews from his former post at Walter Reed AMC were less than stellar and he was known for sub-standard job performance. Considering the fact, he made it to Major, I personally have some mixed feelings about this. DC military staff are selected because of their excellence in their chosen fields, these are the men and women on call for Congress and the POTUS, mind. Initial reports by the Lt. General in charge of Ft. Hood were this suspect was killed, however overnight reports indicate he's alive, on a respirator and responsive. The two suspected accomplices have been questioned by military authorites and released as innocent to the charges.

The question becomes an obvious one by this point. He could've just resigned his commision and left if he had a conflict with deployment.

I'm gonna hold my comments to a minimum till more of the story comes out......All us ex-military types that spent more than a few years in service have seen some crazy shit !!!......

Sometime​s a guy will just snap and you don't know what's in his head or what he was thinking, A good soldier will do something incredibly stupid or insaneand you just wonder WTF??? As theMP's and CID hauls them off to Leavenworth.

This guy lost it.....He's either insane, Had a point to make - Probably both.......Don't think being Muslim, Or this being a terror attackwas as much a factor as just being plainnuts.

Just saw CNN, Fox News and HLN reports along with USA Today, Wall Street Journal and London Times reports, he's a Muslim. Wading through the human interests and family "He's a good person at heart"stringers, I don't think it excuses his justification for his actions. A boatload of guys coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan right now are facing far, far worse than this man. As a US military Officer, he's in a position of leadership and trust in the Community. At least, until now, religious and personal fundamentalism means nothing if innocent lives are the cost. There is no excuse for this.

I am not down playing or making fun of this, please do not take my words in any disrespecting maner.

More reports from local radio that the FBI has been "watching" mr. hasan due to the fact that he had frequenting suicide bobmer media on the net. !!!!! The morning of the shooting he was reported to have been giving away korans to people and he had given much of his personal belongings away.

Now I'm no rocket scientist (yet), but this smells fishy to me!

Props to civilian police officer Kimberly Munley who shot the asshat and put a stop to his jihad. Just wish she could have made a martyr out of him though, instead of relegating him to our weak-ass legal system.

Horrible​ story to hear. I am surprised to hear he's still alive. I'm hoping texas will fry his ass once he gets better. I feel for those preparing to be deployed. If that pressure wasn't enough, we now have nuts on bases putting our men and woman in harms way.My prayers go out to those affected.
