I did some shooting with the AR today. You wont believe it but it actually functioned 100% flawless,thats right FLAWLESS!!!!!

It's the first time it has worked right since I inherited it several years ago. I shot Excess of 120 to 130 rounds with no issues. I used my C-Products mags with multiple ammo types. I used Winchester,Remington,old green case Wolf and Polymor case Wolf.

I actually had the opportunity to get the thing sighting in for once. I tried shooting standing ,sitting,and prone. Prone was at 100 yards (so I was told). My grouping was pretty good to be a newbie at rifles out of plinking range. I didn't measure but if you touch your index finger to your thumb thats about the grouping size.Thats about 1 1/2 group I guess. I'm not sure how the grouping is measured. That was in prone position. I really enjoyed shooting prone position. I got my iron sights and my scope zeroed in finally. The scope I zeroed at 100 yards and 25 according to the Bushmaster manual. The scope is a Colt clone with 1,2,3,400 yard and so on adjustments. I would like to change the trigger cause it sucks. I don't know the lb rating but it feels like the Bushmaster stock trigger but a little smoother.It's just a little too stiff. I would like something more around the M1A lb rating whatever that is.

I tried some of the techniques I learned from my U.S. Marine Rifle Marksmanship book. Good book with some good tips. It's everything from cleaning ,shooting,field stripping, etc. to judging wind without tools,leading ahead for moving shots,bullet drop,etc. It's got some good shooting tips like natural point of aim which I new nothing about before I read it,breathing technique,how to use a sling which I don't really understand yet but hopefully I'll learn,just overall key points of being a good rifleman. Any newer guys like myself can really learn alot from this book.

Measure the group by measuring the two holes that are farthest apart. Center to center. One inch at 100 yards is considered MOA (minute of angle) accuracy. Any smaller groups than that are very impressive, and bigger ain't too shabby either. I expect around 3 to 4 inches to be accpetable at 100 yards for combat accuracy. Just my opinion though.

If that's the rifle that's been plaguing you with extraction problems I'm very happy for you.....

What finally corrected it ?......Did you replace extractor assy ? Or go the whole Bolt assy or BCG replacement ???

Yeah Its the mutt gun Max. Its been a combination of problems really.

The one main feeding issue I originally had was the rounds hanging and gouging on the feed ramps. I used a needle file to nock off any burrs and used a fine emory cloth to smooth it a little more then polished it. That fixed that issue,no more gouging of the rounds.

But the last time I shot it there was still a feeding issue but not the same one. This time I had got some new C-products mags that were giving me issues. They have a larger lip on the sides that would catch the extraction groove on the rounds. I compared them to the G.I. mags and the lip on the top wraps around the front alot more than the G.I. mags. I've had that same issue with cheap low quality mags in the past. It would jam and you could take the mag out and the round would still be stuck in the mag hung up ont that lip. No feeding issues using Magpul mags. I filed the sides of that lip off and that fixed the mag issue. It sucks that I had to file brand new mags.

My extraction issue I spoke about last time was the weak extraction spring and the lip was broken on the extractor. The spring was weak enough their was no tension on the pin a would just slide back and forth without having to put any pressure on the extractor. It so weak you could just lay the extractor in its groove and the pin would slide in with out having to put tension on it. It would still extract manually just not shooting it which threw me for a loop before. I guess the speed and more pressure shooting it had something to do with it. So I replaced the extractor and installed a Stoner extractor and Wolf heavy duty spring. Problem solved. I checked the spring while I was there and it was pretty stout.

Now I can finally work on my shooting instead of having to try fix issues all the damn time. I know it doesn't mind Wolf ammo now so may buy me a case of Wolf and just have some fun.

Let me tell you guys about these C-Products mags. I got a pack of six for my birthday. Out of six one had a dent in the front and would not take more than three rounds. Two were wide at the top a had to be forced in the magwell. The welds are sloppy as hell on all of them. All six had to filed so they would feed correctly . Just overall poor quality. Stay away from these things they suck. I should have sent them back to the company for exchange. I definitely will not buy more of these mags.

I have a mix of aluminums, PMags, and C-Products. I have to admit, I love the aluminums, dig the PMags, and don't have an opinion one way or the other on the C-P's. I got the latter at a gunshow and they seem to work fine for me, but I may have gotten lucky.

I've got a pair of 10-round C-Mags. The first two or three rounds from each of them fed a little hard - had to use the FA button - but after those rounds spread the lips out a little bit, I haven't had a problem since. I've fired probably a hundred or so rounds from each one.

The last sh**load of mags I bought were all Mil-Spec from a Gub'mnt contractor with green follower - Glad I went that route.

I will probably just get Mil-spec mags next time and just put magpul followers if they have any issues. I can't seem to find metal mags that made like mil-spec mags are,they all seem to need tweaking to work right. C-Products were suppose to be good but I have read mixed reviews about them. Seems to be hit or miss. If theirs a faulty product out there, trust me I will find it.

Sorry to hear you are having magazine troubles.
If you got some bad C-Products magazines give them a call or send them an e-mail.
They will take care of you. They spend a fair amount of time on ARFCOM and are always happy
to replace any mags that don't work 100%. I plan on buying some of their 10rd SS mags for shooting in prone at the matches. They aren't Pmags but they have a decent rep @ ARFCOM.
