Internet Explorer Users (7-8):
Since the site opened, we have received spotted reports of problems with the IE series browsers nearly locking up, across various parts of the site, though it onlyaffects a small portion of users.
This issue to date does not appear to have a common thread between computers, and only affects a portion of Internet Explorer users. The majority of both IE 7 and IE 8 computers remain unaffected. Antivirus, flash, and the speed or age of individual computers does not seem to have any relevance.
Through continuing optimization we have attempted to address these issues and have resolved any problems for some users, yet others out there still experience Related issues while using our site. Unfortunately, we have a limited number of computer systems that we can personally utilize to try to replicate and locateany source of problems. As it stands right now, we no longer have any computer systems that experience any of the IE 'freeze' issues that (I believe) still plagues a few users. I want to address that and will dedicate time through the next couple weeks just to resolve any of these remaining issues.
If you use IE 7/8 and experience these freezes - please let us know! I recommend using the 'Contact us' feature as it will automatically give us some additional browser information that can help us attempt toduplicateany problems on our end. Please let us know where you are on the site when it freezes, what you did immediately prior to it freezing (clicking on navigation box? pressing post it in the new topic form? etc.) and if you can, provide as much information as possible! Things that could help if you know what they are: What antivirus software do you have installed? Any browser toolbars or plugins installed? What kind of computer do you have? (Dell Dimension xxxxx, mac xxxx, home build AMD xxxx, etc.)
If you used to experience these freezes, but don't have any issues anymore, or if youexperienced freezes oncertain pages and no longer experience freezes on some of them- please let us know so we can gauge the scope of the problem and possible resolution options.
If you used to experience freezes while in IE 7/8 and switched browsers to escape the hassle - if you have the time, and its not a hassle, please check to see if you still have problems in IE 8 and let us know!
Lastly, if you experience any issues while using the site (regardless of what browser you use) please don't hesitate to let us know.The more detail you can provide, the better; and if you use the contact us feature the site will try to automatically give us a little bit of information (operating system and browser), though we encourage you to contact us however you prefer. Since we are one of the very few sites out there with our own custom forums we don't have the benefit of '10 years' to work out all pre-existing issues, though we have hundreds of advancements in return.There are still some problems (visual glitches, performance issues, processing mistakes forpostsmostly)on some browsers that we do not know about,- so help us to help you! We have fixed many reported issues already and continue to sort through information and try to pinpoint problems to improve your experience on the site.
To all the users who have already contacted us with issues, especially in the last few weeks, I really appreciate it. Everything gets added to our list and investigated. It may take us a little while to fix everything but what you report will get addressed as soon as possible.
