Yesterday a co-worker brought me three .50
cal ammo cans that were pretty heavy. One contained four boxes of 12 gauge reloads (#7 1/2 shot I believe) and the bottom third was loose .357 Mag
LSWC reloads. The second was 55% full of loose .38 Spcl
LSWC reloads and the third had about 100 rds of .45
ACP LSWC reloads and a bag of 7 1/2 shot. There was also about two dozen fired cases for each of the revolver calibers.
I'll need to inspect the fired cases for pressure signs, disassemble about ten rounds of each and weigh the powder charges for consistency and fire a few in a sturdy gun to feel how hot they are before just blazing away.
These were loaded by an older fellow that had passed away in the last year. He had quite a bit of reloading equipment. The presses were given away several months ago. He also left behind a five gallon pail full of wheel weights. This guy was really into reloading, which gives some clue to the quality I suspect these reloads to be. I'm told there was a ton of fired brass as well. I'll probably hear what became of the brass soon enough. Of course, I informed him I would be happy to take any of the gun stuff that was left over if they wanted to get rid of it. :)
