I don't know if I ever personally welcomed you to this site, so if I didn't...WELCOME!
As for your inquiry, I have a Glock 23 and a Glock 22C. As you probably know, the Glock 22 is a little larger, but other than that...functionally identical! If you have larger hands, look at the Glock 22 (it's a .40 caliber also in case you didn't know already).
I don't have small hands, nor large...about average. I can shoot either very proficiently. I do like the feel of the Glock 23 a little better though, even though my "go-to" Glock is the 22 because of the trijicon night sights and lasermax red laser in the guiderod.
Recoil is slightly more pronounced on the 23...because it's a little smaller than the 22. Still, follow up shots aren't a problem.
Since you have fired previous pistols as evident by your post of having a Beretta, you are familiar with operation. However, Glocks aren't forgiving in any way. The lack of a manual safety makes it volatile. As with all firearms, handle with care, but pay a little extra attention to detail when handling a Glock! The safety on a Glock is your brain and finger!!!!
Glocks are what started the "poly-pistol" phenomenon. They are no frills, no bells and whistles and ROCK SOLID in the reliability department. There's a reason why so many law enforcement agencies use the Glock and the reasons don't include them being cheap or unreliable!
Good luck on your purchase, but if you aren't too pistol saavy, go with something with a manual safety.
