Now about your Glock 19 :

I've been carrying one since '96, It was a used Gen 2(Police Trade-in) when I got it........It's still bone stock except for being on it's second set of night sights......It will feed any ammo I give it and has never failed to fire - Even though I've tortured it on occasion by running 3-4 full mags thru it non stop rapid fire till it was smoking hot.....Newer handguns have hit the market since Glock came out - But I'm still carrying my raggedy stock G19....So I suggest you shoot and carry the pistol awhile before you worry about accessories and springs(Not a fan of extended anything on a carry pistol).

The only Accessory I would mention is a set of Night Sights if it already doesn't have them, Mine came with Trijicons which are alot easier to have replaced when they wear out, As opposed to Meprolight based in Israel that uses Kimber as a distributor(I Don't even know if they do replacements or warranty work???).....And Stick with Green - They last longer.

Springs.......You 'Can' change the springs, A heavier spring may reduce felt recoil of hotter rounds, While a lighter spring my function better with really light plinking rounds - But why replace the stock spring that came with your pistol if it shoots fine ???.......And stay away from guide rods and gimmicks !!!

I say your Glock was designed as a defensive firearm right out of the box......So if it shoots fine don't mess with it.

Not a Problem if your Glock is coming with the standard fixed sights.....You can purchase the Night Sights and anyone 'Competent' with the sight Installation tools(Pusher and Hex Tool) can install them for you no sweat in just a few minutes - Perhaps the shop selling you the pistol could cut you a break if they have the Trijicons and sight tool ???

I say stick with fixed sights if this is going to be a carry or defensive pistol.....The rear sight can be moved within the 'Dove Tail' with a sight tool to adjust aim - Moving it right also moves the bullet impact right, Or left to move the impact left.....Elevation is usually not an issue - And remember this is a defensive weapon and not a Match Gun.

You can go with just about any sights you want fixed or adjustable - The slides are all the same, Though I'm not 100% if the newer Glocks are coming with a dove tail for the front sight or not.....On my old Gen2 the front sight is secured from the bottom with a tiny Hex screw.

Really no sweat either way......Just get your pistol and go shoot it first before worrying with the small stuff - You may wind up liking it just the way it is.

The best 'accessories' you can buy for a Glock are rated as follows:

#1: A case of good training ammo

#2: A few boxes of good defensive ammo

#3: A good holster

#4: A couple spare magazines

#5: A good spare magazine pouch.

#6: Steel Night sights (trijicon/meprolight)

Sweet deal!I'm right on board with you Brada2. I purchased a G17 gen4 yesterday. I can pick mine up on wednesday After the Illinois 72 hour 'Stew and Rage' period. I spent about two months deciding between the XD9 and the G17. Finally went with the Glock.

One funny thing about the waiting while you already own guns thing you mentioned, Here in Illinois, even if you trade in a gun for another, you still have to experience the wait period! Whats the point??

The point is to piss off those of us who purchase guns..... Don't you just love 'feel good' legislation? Point to one example of a waitng period saving a life? Go ahead........... I'll wait.
