Well it has been 3 days and we have 12 deer hanging. Saturday and Sunday was spent trying to get the kids in position to get some tags filled. We succeeded. Lot of walking thru some pretty deep snow. Here are some pics of the deer the kids got.

I walked this one almost a mile thru some river bottom and he
ran right up the barrel of one of the kids. He also dumped 2 does that were running with this buck. Luckily we were able to get a truck out to it, otherwise it would have been a long drag.

This is one of the does he dumped with the buck. Shot it a little far back. The guy doing the dirty work actually lost his breakfast gutting this one out. I almost fell over laughing at him. I have watched him probably gut over thirty deer. First time he has ever lost his cookies.

Taking care of another doe.

A little in situation pic.

This is another one that we pushed for one of the kids. He got a slug in it just a little too far back. We had to walk back the way we came. Followed blood for about 1/4 mile into some real knarly willow thickets. She jumped up and a buddy finished the job. Only problem is she rolled back down into the river. We got a little wet getting her out.

This one is from our first push saturday morning. Best friends son thought he hit this one while walking the timber. After the shot I watched where he went in a different chunck of timber. Grabbed Alex and said lets for for a walk. I had him go in a little farther up than where the deer went in at. I walked in from the south and started going north. We had blockers set up at the north end in case he, or any other deer happened to get by Alex. I got to the spot I saw him go in at and hollered at Alex to be ready. I took one more step and he blew out of a drift right at my feet. I pulled up and was going to shoot but saw he was heading right for Alex. He waited till he would not be shooting at me and put a real good shot on him. Little high but got the spine. I told him I was proud of him for waiting on taking the shot till I was clear. His best buck to date. One of my more memorable hunting experiences.

My only kill this weekend was one dog. I did get a slug in a real dandy ten pointer. Tracked him most of the day. We lost light so plan on getting back after him in the morning.
Will be hunting horns till thursday or so then will start filling tags so we got some meat for the freezers. Will report back later in the week.
