Getting drawn for elk in Az is like winning the lottery. I know several people that haven't been drawn in over 8 years. I myself have several bonus points. If I get drawn it will be a miracle but my fingers are crossed. I will keep you posted.

Doc,

It took me 11 years straight before I got drawn the first (and only) time in Az. It was for a cow hunt and I enjoyed every minute of it, even when we had to pluck up our camp and move when the forrest fire came over the hill top he were camped at the base of.... I am crossing my fingers again this year too.

That is totally AWESOME Tac!!!! I am so jealous. I put in for Bull and Cow in that unit. I have an Aunt there who loves to do wildlife photography and ALWAYS knows where the Elk are. I will see if she will give me a couple good spots to pass on to you.

IP, no sweat. if he gets his Elk I will be begging for an ELK BURGER lol

Thanks Doc. I have contacts in Williams and my hunting parner spends just about every week end after May 1st in his toy hauler up there. His father in law owns 10 acers of land that borders the national forrest up there. We never see elk on his property, but the deer are everywhere. We got drawn for this same hunt two years ago and we both tagged out at the same time on a small heard with 8 cows and one bull (5x5). It was awesome. My partner is the current SWAT Sergeant and we were both snipers on the team together back in the day. We were shoulder to shoulder using 'cadence fire' and count down, so that we both dropped our respective elk at the same moment. 305 yard shot on mine, about 300 on his. If you think one elk on the ground is work, imagine two... We are both just about out of meat from that hunt, so this draw couldn't have came at a better time.

IP, If I tag out again this year, I will see what I can do... I've never mailed a box of meat before... wonder what that would cost? I would imagine that it would have to go next day air and be hard frozen for the trip. (Can you imagine the sniffer dogs at the post office when that package goes by? )

Well, you don't have to worry about the dogs here. Our dog is a 5 time misdemeanor crack ho with no teeth. The only thing she can smell is money, dope, and food stamps.

Room, you're very close but my sister is working at the dump smelling loads. Depending on the smell she charges different rates. She has the money, dope, and food stamp sniffer but Bobby Jo Lilly Pauline Georgia Sue beat her out for the job.

As far as women that meet that description, I have an entire county full of them and could get you date if you wanted Doc.

Well guys.... I just got back from my 2010 cow Elk hunt... It was a long hunt, but I ended up taking my Cow with a 60 yard shot about 10 minutes before last light on the last day of the hunt! I missed two shots earlier in the season (both running shots at pretty fair distances). Anyway, this hunt was fraught with bad weather and rain/mud, but it still worked out. I saw several large bulls and a lot of other game to include coyotes, bobcats, and mule deer.

I got my elk to the butcher and should know in a couple of weeks how much meat I'm getting back. It should be a pretty fair amount, as she was a large mature cow and I only put one round through her chest (Heart/Lung shot) that didn't damage any meat other than rib.

Because it was almost dark when I killed her, we didn't get any photos...
