I'm not new by any means, but rather I'm returning after a self imposed absence. But I'm willing to give it another go if the gang here is willing to have me. I decided to leave after some disagreements between myself and some others here. I've been told that I take things too personally. That may be so. But whether I do, or whether I was given cause is immaterial at this point. I offer in my defense, that at the time, I was undergoing a very difficult time on the home front. The economy and other factors had the company on the rocks, and I was facing imminent layoff, and the end to 18 years with the company. And being 56 years old, with a heart condition, I'm basically unemployable. At least at a level that would satisfy my financial obligations. But I squeaked by and things have stabilized....for now anyway. So here I am, hat in hand. I shall endeavor to have my say, let other's have there's and let it go at that.

We'll be glad to have you back . I'm sure everyone else will welcome you back as well. We all have our disagreements,myself included. We all have to remember everyone has a opinion. I've been told my own opinions where bullshit and ignorant before and just decided to blow it off and let it go. It's not worth destroying the forum or a thread over an opinion.

Welcome back RG! Glad to have you - you do realize your one of many top contributors right? That means quite a bit since you joined recently. Members of the old site got a head start to contribution with some bases in topics posted on the old site (to make sure it worked) which means some chuckle-heads have higher bars than they should...(myself included) while on the other hand - you didn't. Yours is based 100% on other users opinion, which is evidence enough that you are very well liked.

Whatever disagreements you had or may come to have in the future, don't hesitate to give us a heads up if people are causing grief privately. We do have moderators and we do appreciate our contributing users.

Glad that your situation is stable - if even for the time being - there's far worse alternatives for sure. Maybe dive deeper into gunsmithing and see if you can't make some side income to squirrel away! Also to all our users in general - if your going through hell, feel free to post about it in GD or elsewhere. Sometimes the community as a whole can give you ideas or insight you may not have considered otherwise, and on rare occasions some may be able to help directly.

It's nice to have you back on the site. It would benefit us all to grow some thick skin around here sometime. That's just part of the worldwideweb. Because there is no inflection in a person's text, as opposed to talking, sometimes things don't read "right". Then it's interpreted as abrasive and there's a tiff, feathers get ruffled and people take their ball and go home.

Glad you're here, besides, with the exception of just a handful of others here, you are in the top 4-5 when it comes to schooling all us on any revolver or old school pistolry.

Glad to see you back! I'll start by saying I know you and I disagreed on some post, but seriously, I mean nothing by it other than debate. Your knowledge and contribution is greatly respected here, and by me especially. I hope I didn't cause you to split, but if I did, I'm sincerely sorry. BTW, use that PM feature if you ever need to hash it out with a member here.

Anyway, hope all is well on the home front now, and I look forward to your involvement again!

Like Mad_Max, I missed the friction - must of been on one of my own stints of leave (I take breaks too). You have to do that with every forum really. What makes a forum a quality one or not is if you miss it enough to come back. Glad you did.

Speaking of people that disappeared - what ever happened to Mempilot, NewOrleansGuns, and Subvert (I'm sure I'm missing others too, they just came to mind)? Sorry, don't want to hijack the welcome back thread, just RG coming back reminded me of other members I haven't seen in awhile.

RG im lookin to get a 44mag to carry hunting with me. I have found a ruger super blackhawk with a 10 1/2 inch barrel and a scope for $350.I know its a great deal but have never had a 44 or a pistol with a barrel that long and a scope. The Scope really makes this thing big and bulky , i just dont know ?Any thoughts ?

GD, I've never hunted with a hand gun. I know a 44 mag will certainly get the job done. But a 10 1/2 barrel, with a scope? Phew. Glad I don't have to tote it around.

Unless you're going somewhere that you expect to run into grizzly bears, I'd opt for something a little less.....well....massive. A 357 perhaps.

Yes, I must have missed it all too, but welcome back, I wondered where you had been. Most of all, glad things have settled down a little in your life. I believe a lot of us have been through what you are going through, maybe not exactly, but very similar. There are a few others I have not heard from in a while either.
