If you are looking for a range only optic, then none of your above stress test matter.

If it is something you are going to put your life on the line for then yea save and buy the best money can buy and stress test it yourself for piece of mind. No reason to rain on his parade when he found an optic he can have fun with that won't break the bank.

Oh and Ethron looks like you found a good entry level optic to have fun with. I'm getting there slowly... I keep dipping into the fund for ammo though... /sigh

Well MEM, I would have to agree with you on your comments.

First as to the quality of the optics, yes I agree, as I have learned the hard way, that is why there is a Mark 2 on her instead of a cheapy, she ate the other ones.....LOL. Make no mistake, there WILL be a comp on her someday. The Burris is a step up from the POS Bushnell that was on it. For most, buying the weapon is the first step and equipping it comes next, and sometimes slowly. It is a good sight for the money, since I don't plan to be in combat, I think, for now it will do....and if I am and it breaks, well I have my BU sights to use....
See where I am going.....You build a first rate foundation, then you build up from there..one step at a time...
Hey if I had the money, there would be a comp 2 or 3 on it and a Mark 4 8.5x25x50 in my mount...

As for you suggestions on the TESTS, I also agree with them and had thought already about doing some of those, but being this is my personal equipment, I am not about to trash it and have them say it was excessive use and void my warranty. I will however slowly do some more durability tests, in time to test it under controlled situations.
I did send Burris, the gentleman I spoke with, an e-mail with the videos to see what they have to say. Now depending on what I receive back, I may take it to the next level and tell them of my plans to record the tests and make sure they are approved and my optic is covered. If it was a factory sent one and I would not be out anything, hell I would drive over it with my truck to see how tough it is.....

So all in all, the tests I put it through were antiquate for now to prove that it will stand up to the recoil of the AR-10, would handle a AR-15 with no problems, and it is functional for a standard sight for moderate to normal civilian use....

Fine... FINE.... I'll stop posting before I have my coffee as it makes me cranky.

I haven't followed all of Eth's post to know this is his go-to weapon. I read it as he found a budget optic that was accurate enough to have fun with and if he performed your test he would be out that shiny new optic heh.

Oh and MEM,

A). you didn't rain on my parade.....

B). as you have stated, the AR-10 is not exactly a CQB weapon, but it is a CRE (close range engagement) weapon ( 50 to 100 yards), and I would depend on it (the sight) to do what is needed.

Most engagements only last a few shots anyway.....

Just to add, at this time my CQB weapons are a .45 and a 12 ga. If they make it past those, well I am FKD.

I would bet that "cheap" Burris sight would surprise alot of people by the amount of abuse it can take. I sometimes think alot of shit is waaaay overpriced and that is it's appeal. I know not alot of people won't agree but, I think if your scope says Zeiss on it that's why you got it. Again I've never owned an "expensive" scope, but my older brother has a couple Leupolds and a Schmidt & Bender. All transmitt light a little better than my "Weavers" just not $800-$1800 better

Ethron,

Thanks for taking the time, extreme motivation and effort you displayed in doing the videos. I know it was colder than a polar bear's toenail out there and you made due with what you had to work against (mother nature).

Everyone's a little different and optic choices are no exception. If the Burris held up to your shooting and continues to do so, you should be good to go for a plinker. If you consider, or ever are to consider your AR10 to be life support equipment, test it further in accordance with Mem's post or in some other manner you feel will be applicable. But, if you're happy, that's all that matters, because you are the one who'll be standing behind it come hell or high water...not me or anyone else here.

Hell, about the only optic/scope out there that will allow you to drive a 60 penny nail into a railroad tie with and it keep working is a U.S. Optics model, since they are made like tanks. I doubt I could do that with anything in my arsenal and them still be usable, but I know that if SHTF, they'll hold up fine. I think you see my point. Good on ya bud, keep up the videos, but if I may make one suggestion, get yourself a video editing program and edit out all the superfluous stuff. Like my boy Joe Friday says..."Just the facts...".

Good review! It's nice to know there are some optics out there that are good enough for everyday shooting fun & reliable enough for the money. I have been looking at the Triji ACOG's & I am saving up for one. In the meantime, this could make a nice "in between" scope to use till the ACOG is in my possession!

Honestly, I want both an Eotech & an ACOG! I think my children will be forced to eat less this winter...

Not sure for what this is worth, but the burris xts-135 at optics planet is going for 249.00 and a aipoint compml2 is going for 428.00. For the 180 dollar difference why not just get the aimpoint? Ive been reading some good about the vortex stikefire as for a 'not break the bank, halfway decent sight'

I got mine from Midway for 239.00. Yes I would have to agree that you add the extra 2 bills and you would have an aimpoint, but at that time I didn't, and found a great alternative to it....It held up good enough for now.....when I have things straightened out, then maybe I will up grade once again....
On the Vortex, not to sure....I looked at one, I would say for a AR-15 it would probably do alright, but not for the AR-10. To many electronics in it....but I may have to get one just to see.....How long it will last....LOL
