I'll give you my .02 worth, take it or leave it, as I don't mean any offense. You can skimp on certain things, but most have learned over time that you can't skimp on optics and you get what you pay for. Eotech's are the cat's ass, don't let it's magnifier be the weak link to it's full capability.
Of course I know you won't be using your setup in the suck, but, someday, it could be "life support equipment". I'm just sayin'...
Lastly, I don't know how the Mako or the G&P perform...some may say they are the shizzle for sure, so to speak, but I'm not going to chance it. If you've saved for the Eotech, save a little longer for it's magnifier. If you have the disposable income to purchase the Eotech outright, splurge a little and buy a comparable magnifier.
