a quality scope

I am looking for a high quality target scope for my Model 700 .223 20'' heavy barrel used mainly for bench rest target shooting from 100, 200, and 300 yards.
I have a cheapy scope on there now and want to up grade to something high quality with finger adjustments.
Does any one recommend a scope that wont break the bank.
I am thinking of a Leupold line made for the ar-15 but not sure.

That scope would work nicely for you Sham. Just don't buy it from notCheaperthandirt. Their prices are significantly higher than others out there at all times.

Before I throw anything out, Sham, what do you want to spend......that is the most important question.???

Given that, I can suggest a few.....Oh and Listen to Recoil on CTD!!!!

I already have the one above on order but not from Cheaperthandirt. Post the same model and deal if you can find it cheaper. It came with free Leupold rings and base all with free shipping.

Not to far off for what I paid for my Mark 2....They look alot alike...

That is done with.........question # 2 - I have three other Ruger rifles and only dealt with Ruger rings. This one has Leupold scope rings and base.
Does anyone know if the Model 700 Leupold base and rings have to be two different highs like on the Rugers?

for example - on the Rugers I had to have a #4 and a #5 on the back to mount the scope.

I don't think so. Well, at least I've never heard of that before on a Remmy and I've owned 3 in my life. If it is true, I've got some excellent shooting scopes, which are improperly mounted!

From what I found out awhile back, the Remington 700 is the most versatile for extras...if I am not mistaken, you can use either....the one piece Picitiny rail would be your best option... You can do more with it....just my .02.
