Trilarian,
Yes, resale is high on both the EoTech and Aimpoint. You should be able to get 90-95% of your money back without a haggle and upwards of that with a little patience for the right guy to come along. They are hot items, rock solid and anybody who's anybody knows that they are made for the long haul, if they've been taken care of like I'm sure you will.
A note on the ACOG. Being an ACOG owner, I can tell you that there is a transition period which could cause you to lose the reticle. That period is not the optic's fault, but the operator/users. It's because we, as men, can't adapt to sudden light changes quickly. In other words our nightvision sucks. Rods bleach out in our optical system and it takes a transition period before it restores. During that transition period, the ACOG's tritium chevron/circle/dot, etc. is extremely dim, if not invisible altogether (dependent on the user...smoker, non-smoker, diet, etc.). It only lasts for a few minutes, but it happens. Marines in the sandbox are sometimes putting cyalume sticks (the small ones, smaller in diameter than a pencil) on their ACOGs. They use black electrical tape, taping the stick to the fiber-optic light gatherer atop the ACOG. The light from the stick, augments the tritium. Hey, it works for that transition period. Other than that, the ACOG performs well at night, I've even stayed on the deer-stand past dark using one. The main problem with hunting past sunset is that you lose the reticle in a typical scope, but you won't with the ACOG. Since I am on the stand and sunlight is gradually fading, my eyes are adjusting and I can see the chevron perfectly with no cyalume needed. Again, the transition period is caused by going from a well lit room to a dark alley in a moment's time.
As for CQB with an ACOG, I have a 4power x 32mm objective, fixed power. I can shoot inside of 25 yards with it, but it would take some getting used to by the "average Joe" shooter. As someone mentioned, I think it was Mempilot, you must use the Bindon Aiming Concept (both eyes open). Using that concept, there's not a problem and mine is 4power. Trijicon makes 1.5 powered ACOGs as well as reflex, docter and red-dot optics for really close in work. Speaking of which...
For people using an Aimpoint for CQB, you are limited to short ranges until you add a magnifier. For people using EoTech, pretty much the same limitation. If you use an ACOG and don't like it's CBQ qualities, put a Docter on top of it and bam, you have the best of both worlds. I mean, you have to buy something else with an Aimpoint of EoTech to get both worlds right?
