I do not own one, but I have shot one.
It was originally designed as a replacement upper for use in the military for the purpose of barrier penetration/vehicle engagement. It uses the same mags as an AR, but they only hold 10 rounds. The rounds I fired were shot at a junked truck. The shots taken at the windshield penterated straight through, without deflection and exited the rear window, then struck the inside of the tailgate, near the top and completely pentrated the tailgate...
Rounds fired through the driver's door penetrated clean through both doors without even slowing down... It is a serious round meant to punch through things.
It has some recoil, but it is not unmanagable. Not something I would sit and shoot 100 rounds from the bench with, but most of my hunting rifles kick harder.
The one I shot was "paper plate" accurate out to 200 yards, but it did drop pretty fast compared to most other rounds.
An aquaintence of mine spent some time in Afganistan as a "contractor" and carried one of the Beowulf equiped AR's over there. He reported an 8 inch in diameter exit wound after a frontal shot that first penetrated the sternum of the target, and exited out the spine. He said the guy almost did a complete back flip upon being hit at a distance of about 50 yards. I have no reason to doubt this man's integrity or that this round is capable of such devistation.
