I use gun scrubber, or gun blaster
I use brake cleaner when the rifle is exceptionally grungy.
I lube with CLP and when I say lube, I mean lube. I don't store the rifles saturated, I'll just lube the normal amount. But when I take the rifle out for extensive firing, I douche the BCG with CLP and run it wetter than a prom queen at midnight!
When cleaning, I'll totally submerge my BCG in a sink of water with Dawn dish detergent for soaking while I'm punching the bore. After I get the upper and lower cleaned up, I'll take a toothbrush and more Dawn to the individual parts of the BCG. Then, once clean to satisfaction, I'll remove from sink, rinse with water and let sit on a paper towel for a bit. When I'm done with everything else on the rifle, I'll revisit the BCG. I spray it with 91% alcholol in a spray bottle and use a hair dryer to dry. When I'm convinced everything is dry, I'll reassemble all the pieces to the BCG, lube up and reinstall. I've never had any problems with this method and the carbon comes off with some elbow grease. That's just my method...it's "a way" of doing it...not necessarily "the way" of doing it!
