I've had my eye on it a long time, but while they are good at designing, they are not good at volume of manufacturing. It took YEARS for them to fill initial orders, and they are no longer accepting orders while they are trying to fill years worth of backlog. Unfortunate really, because it's a very cool firearm. Rare to come across a person with one.. I'd wager there is three people that have a down payment on one for every person that
has one.
FYI - Eugene stoner may have very well had a hand in designing that bad boy. He co-founded Ares Defense, for those that didn't know.
As for why.. anyone with a registered receiver - the shrike is very badass. You can freely swap uppers on a registered receiver, so by paying 2-3 thousand more.. you also have a belt
fed MG in addition to your "insanely" expensive M16/M4. Not much different than a M249 but a whole hell of a lot less expensive considering everything.
If you can ever get one....
