just thought id say i love my xd .40 subcompact and sold a xd .45 that i also absolutely loved. great guns havent had a single problem ever and my .45 was a range rental gun before i got it so it saw alot of use.

I am most impressed with myXD series guns. I have a service size .40, and .40 subcompact, a .45 two-tone "tactical" (long slide) and a .40 XDm Two tone.

Never had any of them fail.... ever.

I was wondering how their reliability was compared to Glcoks. It sounds like their holding their own. How's the XDm doing Tac?I've been eyeing the XDm .40 for awhile now.

I like the XDm and the .45 "Tactical" the best of all of them. The XDm has the replacable backstraps and the MUCH better trigger and improved sights. It fits my hand better than the others, and combined with the smoother, crisper trigger, I shoot it better than the others too. I have not had one failure of any type with any of my XD's, so I have to place them in the small catagory of "most reliable guns I have ever owned"....

As for comparing the XD to the Glock.... Withouth bashing Glock, who was an innovator and still is a great tool, I personally believe that the XD series of guns are stronger andmore mechanically durable. This comes from a guy who has been a Glock armorer for 12 years (among other guns too).

Love my .40 subcompact. It hasn't failed me yet. Took a while to get accustomed to the trigger pull (much different than my LDA Para's). It is stock, but I can only find a few companies online that sell any upgrades, any ideas. The only good one I found was this one: www.pistolgear.com

I have a XDM 40cal and love it. I bought it to shoot USPSA but have not had a chance to try it out yet. It shoots great, with no failures!

Hey Bansheex hows that XDM feel fully loaded. Does it feel to heavy or anything, does it feel pretty balanced. I may be interested in getting one down the road.

My XDm fells pretty well balanced when it's loaded with a 16 round mag in place. Just like any other "plastic pistol", if the mag isn't there it is top heavy. The longer slide/barrel of the XDm help with the balance and the "pointability". The replacable back straps are sweet too, as it allows you to custom fit the gun to your hand. This removed a large problem I have had with the other generations of "Plastic Pistol", as I have large hands but short fingers.

Give the XDm a try... I think you will like it.

I've got a XD 40 sub compact and absolutely love it! There's lots of reliable side arms out there and to each his own. But for me it's the XD!

I've had an XD-40 for a while now. My girlfriend has a XD-9 as well. Love those guns, have had zero issues with them. I bought my girlfriend the XD-9 subcompact for her birthday for her to carry in her purse - we both have CCW's. While I've hit skeet at 25yds with her subcompact, I must confess I don't care for the feel. That's okay because she does and it's her carry piece. I have other compacts that I carry for myself. For those who live in magazine restricted states, an FYI - in a pinch, the 10rd XD-40 magazine will hold about 15rds of 9mm ammo and function in the XD-9 model.
