what are your personal opinions on these pistols. I just got a Springfield XD .45 Tactical. Seems like a pretty nice pistol for the price 500-600 bucks

I have a few XD's to include a two-tone .45 Tactical. I have a couple of thousand rounds throught my tactical and have never had a problem with it. It is a great pistol. Slightly large to carry, but it has never failed me. I took mine to a LEO shooting school in Utah in 2007, where I put almost two thousand rounds through it in a week without one issue. I also shot one of my fastest drill times with that gun that week. The drill is 6 rounds, from 6 yards into a 6 inch circle in under a second. On my second attempt I got it down to .98 seconds. One other guy beat my time the following day with a .94 time using a 1911.

Anyway, the XD series of pistols are great guns and hard to beat for the money.

A friend of mine just got one in .45 and let me run a couple mags thru it - Very Nice easy shooting pistol !!!.....It'll be the 2nd XD(M) type Pistol I've had a chance to fire and the other one was a .40 - I really liked both !!!

If I ever give up my Glock I'll probably get one.

I didn't want to stir the pot IP, but since you already did.... I agree. I own several XD's and not a single Glock... And I have been an Glock armorer for over 12 years now... I can even buy the Glocks at reduced prices... and I still prefer the XD. It is a stronger pistol design. I also shoot it much better than the Glock...

OK......I'll stir the pot a little too :

I bought my G19 back in 1996......It was a 2nd Gen and Police trade-in(Refurbished) when I got it. I've been carrying the pistol for going on 14 Years now and it's getting a little long in the tooth : On it's 2nd set of Trijicon's, Barrel is getting loose(Throws rounds to the left), And a whole lotta holster wear from years of carrying and getting knocked around - But that's what I bought it for and it still rocks !!!

Well I looked at the XD(M) pistols as a possible new carry piece but couldn't find one I like.....Don't get me wrong I think their fine pistols but......Their "Sub-Compact" models are just a little small "Grip Wise" and have less Mag Capacity compaired to my G19, And I find the larger XD's just a bit more pistol than I'd want to carry and conceal.

For Mag Capacity, Fits right, And just small enough to carry without being "Too Small" I still like my G19.

I loved my XD. Sold it because....

well I want an XDM or and XD tac in .45 and I dont need a case full of guns/rifles that I cant use for 6 months.

I have a Glock 23 and love it. I also have the XDM40 and love it to. I had a chance to shoot the new XDM 3.8 in 9mm. Dam good shooting gun. Very accurate, and comfortable to shoot. I think I might have to pick one up since I don't currently own a 9mm.
