Has anyone else had this problem? I have a Springfield XD .45 and the slide is stuck half cocked, and will not budge in either direction. This happened after I field stripped it. I reassembled the slide and placed it back on the frame, began to slide it back, got half way, heard a click, and then it completely stopped moving and will not move a bit. After researching this on the web I found out that it is a fairly common problem with this gun and is caused by the spring not being properly alligned or seated when the slide is reinstalled.
I found one video on youtube in which a guy had the same problem and explained how he fixed it.. his solution was to beat the back of the gun on his wood table until it returned to flush, then he pulled the trigger and it slid right off. He states that he has never had the problem again.
Does anybody have a better solution to this problem before I go out and purchase a rubber mallet? I would hate to beat on a perfectly good gun, but it honestly seems that the only solution is to provide a substantial amount of pressure to force the slide to move. I called the gander mtn gunsmith yesterday and he wont be in until Monday!
