Had one....They're Junk.....
I had wanted an extremly "Light Weight" .22LR to mount a Night Scope on just for plinking pests.....I milled the rear sight cover off the back and successfully installed a scope base - Turned out great.
Problem is the rifle is cheaply made and finicky about ammo......If your looking for a "Break Down" .22LR I believe Marlin makes a good one.
It's easy Bro......That's just the rifle I had in Mind.....
Go to Wal Mart....They'll usually have a Catalog behind the counter and can order you one "And " at Wal Mart's famous low prices !!!
I've bought a few rifles that way - They don't have "Hard Core" stuff like AR's Etc.....But they can order in just about anything else !!! - Just thumb thru their catalog !!!
Good Luck.
If it was an older 'Armalite AR-7' I might be a fan......
But when the receiver is cast with probably the same 'Melting Point' as a Davis or Jennings it was a turn off for me 'And' the black finish coming off on my hands when I cleaned it.....They really could make them better if they wanted to.
Maybe you got one of the better ones.....My Friend also has one of those 'Henry Yellow Boys' in .22LR, The lever action hangs frequently when chambering a round.
I'm probably one of the nuts you were refering to. As a dealer I ordered a Henry AR-7 for a customer. It came and jammed EVERY SHOT. Sent it back to Henry and they reamed the rear of the chamber with what looks to have been a worn out rat tailed file and now the gun jams every OTHER shot. JUNK!
A friend's Henry .22 lever action is a wonderful gun however!
