I agree here. silence is the key to surviving a true zombie encounter. The more noise you make the longer your ordeal will last....the more ammo you will need. Its a vicious cycle, which will only end you going hand to hand and losing.
1) The night has eyes. Travel during the day if you must travel at all. Things moving at night attract attention. It doesn't matter if you can see clearly at night, the object is not to BE SEEN and night vision goggles don't hide you.
2) Blood in the water tells a shark food is near, while the sound tells the shark 'food is here'. Zombies know food is around, they go to where food was, or could be. The noise food makes tells them where it is. Silenced kills may leave a trail to follow, but a trail is not your exact location in the present terms. It is only of past locations.
3) Safety in numbers only works until you are out numbered. Divide and conquer only applies to organized threats against a group. Know when its time to split up the group for the good of all persons. Its harder to find 10 groups of 4, then it is to find 40 people. See rule #1 and #2 for clarification on why.
4) Leave the overkill for the Hollywood movies. A great man once said, 'My pappy had a rule, if you want to drive a nail into a wall, all you do is hit it with a hammer, nothing fancy, just hit the dam thing.' He was then shot for talking too much...but the point is well put. A .22 will do the job just as well as a 12ga, and I can carry a lot more .22 then 12ga shells. On another note a great man once said, 'Nuke it from orbit, its the only way to be sure.' So if a 12ga will end your trouble, no reason to skimp out and use a .22...
These rules are taken from the unofficial book 'the Art of Zombie War' by DieselPower.
