I think most everyone knows about the multiple problems I had with Taurus over my 1911 I bought from them. In particular their customer service....or lack of.

When I sent that gun back to them for warranty service, I had an argument with them over who would pay the shipping. I was told that when returning a gun for warranty repair, shipping was my responsibility. I said I didn't think it was right asking me to pay shipping to get a brand new gun fixed, which was defective out of the box. They finally agreed to pay for the shipping, at which point THEY scheduled a Fedex guy to come to my house and pick up the gun. A couple of weeks later I got a bill from Fedex. Taurus had refused to pay the shipping. I called Taurus and complained. I was told, throw the bill away, we'll take care of it. Today I got a nasty letter from Fedex. Taurus once again refused the bill, and Fedex is now yelling at me because the bill is overdue. So I now have to pay this $85 shipping bill to be rid of it.

Well, I sold that PT1911 a few weeks back. I now have no Taurus products in my possession, nor will I ever again in the future.

I am sorry for your mis-fortune with that gun....all I can say is my 24/7 pro has worked like a champ...no issues to speak of...

Personally I would have turned it over to the Better Business Bureau...and let them handle it.....You should right guns and ammo and a few other mags about that shit....that is just BS....

When I had to send my AR-10 back, my dealer took care of it and ArmaLite did not charge me nothing.....now that I think of it....the Dealer should have taken care of it.....if they were an up and up dealer...

That sucks man. I had good dealings with taurus personally but it wasn't a warranty job either. I can't stand a company that just gives you the run around. If they don't intend to pay it then don't say you will. The $85.00 sounds a little extreme for shipping it back too. I hope you get it worked out.

Yeah, I called Fedex about it. I wanted to know how I could be charged for a shipment which I did not initiate. Taurus scheduled the pickup. Taurus specified the shipping method. Fedex said that although Taurus scheduled the pickup, they made no payment arrangements. Under the terms of Fedex's shipping agreement, unless payment arrangements are otherwise made in advance, the shipper is responsible for the shipping costs. So basically I'm screwed.

In any case, Fedex told me that if I had known I was going to pay for it, I could have chosen a much cheaper shipping option. Taurus specified Priority Overnight Express with delivery guaranteed before 10:00am. The most expensive option available. That's why it was $85. Why shouldn't Taurus pick the most expensive method? They obviously weren't planning on paying for it.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB. And I'm considering writing a letter to the Florida attorney general's office.

As to the dealer, they refused to have anything to do with it from day one. I was told once the gun is purchased, its not their problem. It's between me and the manufacturer. I've bought my last gun there.

By the way...this is something everyone needs to be aware of. If someone else sends Fedex or UPS to pick up something from you, check to make sure they've made advance payment arrangements, or you can be charged for the shipping costs.

Wholley shit man. Re- God-damn- diculous. They need to reimburse
you the cost of the pistol plus the cost of the shipping. Anything less
and I would contact the A G in your state and report the shoddy
practice from this company. I will remember to check with the shipper
to see if advance arrangements for payments were made before returning

In the future check with the FFL that you purchase from. The two main ones that I buy from will eat the shipping just for customer service. Of course they are mom & pop stores fighting for business.

In the 90s I had a recall on my Ruger P85 9mm for an update on the Decock /Safety. (gave it to my Brother a few years later, think he still has it) Anyway, They took care of everything, turnaround was about a 2 weeks, awesome customer service and they gave me a Free Magazine for my trouble. It's a shame, R.G. that they are treating you like that. That is what Clark Howard calls 'Customer No Service'. I'll think twice before ever buying a Taurus product.

Um, Revolver, you know Taurus is a Brazilian company, don't you? They send their junk to the US wrapped in stainless steel. You should've gone High-Standard (Fort Worth TX), Springfield Armory (Chicago IL) or, dare I say it, Colt (West Hartford CT).

Just a couple tips, buy American, you'll never go wrong.

Usually the way it's supposed to work on a deal like this is you ship it to them on your dime..........Them they fix it and ship it back to you on their dime.......Unless it really is 'Bad' out of the box and can't refund or exchange it for some reason - Then I feel your pain.

But I'm a little fuzzy on how to rack up $85 bucks on shipping this thing back and forth ???.......I know that some companies and shippers have really tightened up on their rules about shipping handguns though : All kinds of tracking and signatures......Some will only ship overnite, Etc.

Heck if my credit is fairly good and I don't intend on buying something soon that requires it :

KISS MY A**............$85 Bucks isn't going to ruin you if it's the principle of the thing.

Does anyone else notice that customer service and quality of products in general seems to be in the crapper lately ?!?!

Ahh freakin' Taurus. I purchased a PT917CS (9mm) about a year ago from the local Academy. This is basically my carry everywhere piece. I do construction and often find myself in bad areas late at night and need some piece of mind.

My gripe with Taurus is their customer service as well. I purchased a set of Hogue grips to replace the crappy plastic ones. Only problem is that one of the four grip screws is permanently mounted in the factory grips making it useless on the new grips. I've contacted Taurus a couple times for a single grip screw (which I'd gladly pay for), no response what-so-ever. I've decided to live with the missing screw as I'm tired of the local gun shops rolling their eyes when I attempt to find a screw for my crappy gun. The gun shoots great, but I often think of pitching it because I feel played.

OK, this mess just escalated to a new level. Today I received notification that Fedex has turned the shipping bill over to a collection agency. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB. I'm drafting a letter to the attorney general. And my next phone call will be to my attorney to see what action I can take relative to the damage done to my credit.

Beretta doesn't count, they have had a military contract for, what, 25 years? Besides, they've got a factory in the States now from what I've learned. There are a few rare exceptions to the rule (damn few). I didn't know that about Springfield, though. That's a new one on me. Thank God my 1911 is a High Standard!

Well, my BBB complaint came through. Taurus responded to it and they picked up the tab on the shipping. While I'm happy about that, it pisses me off no end that it had to reach that point before they did. Of course we still have the issue of the damage to my credit.

I bought a pt140 and a pt709. my pt140 is flawless now, after the 8 weeks it took for repairs. had to send it in twice by the way. But my girlfriends pt709 is still being repaired. actually just sitting at taurus waiting to be repaired. a**holes. i got free mags but u only need so many.(6)now. taurus is pathetic when it comes to customer service. i will NEVER buy another taurus or tell any1 to ever. they obviously have a lot of bad guns if the repairs take 6-8 weeks. The guarantee to customers means nothing, they're a crap company.
